Springdale, Arkansas-based nonprofit Interform engaged Verdant Studio in a project to produce a backdrop for the runway at their Emerge fashion show in May 2021. Emerge is a designer residency program built to grow and expand the talent of fashion designers in Arkansas.
They needed an economically-budgeted large-scale set piece to anchor the runway and to create an enhanced backdrop for photography of the models, as well as casual selfies.
The final structure was a 10 x 10 x 10-foot cube, hand painted with a colorful modular pattern, composed of 80 cardboard boxes.
“When we first described the idea to Verdant Studio there was a smidge of skepticism all around (mainly from me!) but they came up with a perfect (and affordable!) solution. It’s brilliant in its simplicity and I truly respect a group of folks that can allow the modest but perfect fit take the day rather than trying to flex beyond budget and capacity. That is a rare skill and so incredibly valuable. Bet this isn’t the last time you see Verdant and INTERFORM make some magic.” - Robin Atkinson, CEO and Creative Director at Interform Fashion
